BRAIN DISORDERS and CBD Oil

CBD Oil, the non-psychoactive component of the marijuana plant has been shown to have beneficial effects, particularly in disorders of the brain, including some brain cancers.  It is along the lines of medical marijuana but there is no “high” and it is
completely legal.  CBD Oil is an herbal supplement, not a prescription drug, but rather a simple compound found in a simple plant.

There is a case of a 3-year-old girl from Florida who is battling brain cancer and has shown marked improvement with the use of CBD Oil. The child had endured months of treatment but was still suffering with issues of pain and brain damage brought on by the surgeries and chemotherapy.  After hearing about CBD Oil and deciding to try it the girl’s mother stated that the very first night her daughter tried it she was able to sleep through the night for the first time in her life.
Other uses for CBD Oil in relation to brain disorders have been shown in children with certain types of epilepsy and other seizure disorders.  The success that was shown in these patients initially in reducing the severity and number of seizures is what prompted the development of plant strains which are higher in CBD Oil than in THC (the chemical which causes the “high” you get when smoking marijuana).
According to a recent study by the University of Kentucky, cannabidiol (CBD Oil) can cause physiological brain changes the help to offset the damage caused by chronic alcoholism, essentially reversing the effects of alcohol-induced brain damage.

CBD Oil has also been shown to be an effective treatment for those individuals suffering severe social anxiety.  Study authors state that the CBD treatment has advantages over standard treatments such as anti-depressants in that it is quick to act and does not have side effects or cause withdrawal symptoms.
A clinical trial in Germany showed CBD Oil to be as effective in treating schizophrenia as traditional antipsychotic medications, again without side effects.

More and more clinical studies are being done on other potential benefits of CBD Oil.  A lot of the information currently available is testimony from current users of CBD Oil through their own experiences with it. Read More...

CANNABIS OIL (CBD) MEDICINE

CBD oil is a legal substance as it is produced not from the buds of the marijuana plant but rather from the stalks or seeds.  It is classified as a food or nutritional supplement, not as medicine.  It is used topically in creams or oils that are applied externally or it can be ingested as a supplement.  The real boon of CBD  though is in the perceived medical applications.

Anecdotal information passed around by word of mouth and on the internet led many parents of children with epilepsy and seizure disorders to seek out CBD oil as medication to reduce the number of seizures or to, in some cases, stop the seizures altogether.  Most of these children suffer from severe seizures multiple times every day and have not been helped by any of the current traditional treatments. The severity and extent of the seizures lead to developmental issues for these children, both physical and mental.  Parents are desperate to help their children and CBD oil has been shown to help in many of these cases.  Many health professionals are starting to support the use of CBD oil and to urge that more studies be performed to further examine CBD.
One of the main issues has been that most of the plants currently being produced have been bred to be high in THC, the chemical part of marijuana which causes the “high” and are extremely low in CBD (non-psychoactive).  The increased interest in CBD oil has led growers in the states where marijuana is legal to try to cultivate plants with a higher CBD content.

Alzheimer’s Disease, Can CBD Help?

Alzheimer’s is a progressive neurological disease which causes people to forget skills, familiar faces  and simple tasks.  Many of the current drugs prescribed for Alzheimer’s patients have been proven to be ineffective and have many undesirable side effects.  Recent research indicates that chronic inflammation is instrumental as
a cause of Alzheimer’s.  As plaque builds the ability of neurons to send signals is blocked, ultimately triggering cell death through arterial inflammation.  CBD has been tested and shown to be a powerful anti-inflammatory and to promote the growth of new brain cells, making it a good candidate for study in treating Alzheimer’s.

Scientists have identified that CBD oil can counter some chemical imbalances in the brain.  This discovery could be useful in developing treatments for a number of disorders such as Alzheimer’s Disease and Parkinson’s Disease.  The main chemical identified is iron.  Even though iron is an essential nutrient high levels of iron can damage brain cells and lead to symptoms such as the memory loss of Alzheimer’s.   Abnormal levels of iron have also been linked to the progression of Parkinson’s.

Using CBD oil researchers in Brazil studying rats were able to reverse markers of brain damage caused by high iron levels and basically restore them to normal levels.  The scientists concluded that CBD has great potential in restoring brain function and protecting the brain from any further damage.  As iron has been shown to cause degeneration of the brain by aiding oxidative stress, CBD is known to have powerful antioxidant properties and is a promising candidate for treating disease such as Alzheimer’s and possibly Parkinson’s.
Additional studies were conducted by a team of Australian scientists which also lead many to believe more consideration should be given to cannabinoids for development of future treatments and possible cures for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s and other conditions that cause loss of cognitive ability.
These studies were done on mice suffering from memory loss.  After treatment with CBD the mice showed signs of regaining cognitive ability.  Basically, the performance of the mice was brought back to the level of a healthy animal.
More research needs to be done to further determine the actual cause of the degeneration of the brain and its ability to process and maintain memory.
It has been previously shown that accumulated iron in the brain is a probable culprit which, according to studies, tampers with the generation of neurons in the brain.  CBD helps in neurogenesis, generating new neurons in the part of the brain that forms and stores memories, the hippocampus. Neurons also help in the transmission of messages throughout the nervous system.  Much more research will need to be done, but with approximately 5 million American’s suffering from Alzheimer’s, 1 million suffering from Parkinson’s and another 500,000 patients suffering from other neurodegenerative diseases it is very important the find treatments and/or cures for these types of diseases.  As our population ages these numbers will likely increase since many of these types of neurodegenerative diseases affect the elderly in greater numbers than the young - www.cbdhempoilproductbenefits.com

CBD oil: What It Is Good For?

CBD Oil is a compound found in cannabis (marijuana) that does not cause the “high” usually associated with another compound in marijuana, THC.  CBD is the second most abundant cannabinoid in marijuana.  A cannabinoid is a chemical which activates naturally occurring cannabinoid receptors in the body. Scientific research has been (and is being) conducted which has shown the many health benefits of CBD. More about CBD…

Due the high demand by medical users, growers of both medical marijuana and industrial hemp have started to cultivate plants strains that are CBD-rich instead of the previously desired high THC varieties. Read More About CBD Oil...

CBD has actually even been shown to counteract some of the side effects of THC, such as the “munchies.” Like THC increases the appetite, CBD suppresses it.  At some point in the future, CBD may even be incorporated into a weight-loss drug.  One exception to the appetite-suppression properties exhibited by CBD is in those with anxiety or stress that makes it difficult for them to eat because due to its sedative effect the CBD aids in calming the anxiety, helping to get rid of the sick feelings in their stomach or chest that is preventing them from eating normally.

CBD oil has also been shown to be anti-inflammatory and animal studies in mice have shown that it reduced inflammation associated with a version of rheumatoid arthritis.  CBD could be used for treating symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases.  Another study with mice showed that when given a dose of CBD immediately following a heart attack the infarct size was reduced by
more than 60%.  Additionally, another study using mice showed the ability of CBD to block the development of diabetes.  Several other animal studies have been done showing CBD Oil can prevent metastasis of breast cancer cells. A small scale study done in Brazil showed that adding CBD to the anticonvulsants used by epilepsy patients reduced or stopped the seizures they experienced.  More animal research studies and eventually human clinical trials will need to be completed before mainstream medicine accepts CBD oil as a viable medicine, but judging by the increased demand by patients these will be coming in the not so distant future.  – www.cbdhempoilproductbenefits.com

CBD Oil and Colon Cancer

In 2008 over 1,000,000 people were diagnosed with colon cancer (colorectal or bowel cancer) and over 600,000 of those diagnosed globally died from the disease. It is the third leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. Current colon cancer treatments are extremely toxic and do not work for all patients.

Cannabidiol (CBD) seems to carry less of a stigma than tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive agent of marijuana which causes the “high” marijuana is known for, and shows promise as a way to treat a variety of cancers, therefore, CBD has received a great deal of attention in recent years.

A fairly recent study (October 2013) partially funded with grants from GW Pharmaceuticals and done by researchers in Italy and the UK and published in the journal Phytomedicine and online by the National Institute of Health has shown that a
Cannabis sativa extract containing a high content of cannabidiol (CBD) reduced the cell growth in colon cancer tumors but did not harm healthy cells. Pre-cancerous lesions were also reduced. The study was conducted on mice.  These results could have clinical relevance for the use of cannabis-based medicines in cancer patients. In December 2014 there was a report published in the International Journal of Phototherapy and Psychopharmacology which showed that the use of high-CBD oil on actual patients not only stopped the cancerous cells from spreading it left the healthy cells alone.

There are many anecdotes from the general population claiming CBD oil cured their varied cancers.  To the medical community, however, these are just stories.  They need hard data.  More studies are needed to further investigate the exciting prospects offered by CBD oil.  Meanwhile, more and more people are turning to this “miracle oil” in hopes it will cure their disease. – www.cbdhempoilproductbenefits.com

CBD OIL: Possible Benefits in Cancer Treatment

Not a prescription drug, CBD is a simple compound found in a plant, much like you find Vitamin C in oranges. CBD is found in commercial hemp.
Unlike cannabis, cannabidiolCBD is not psychoactive so its use does not violate any laws. Although THC is the primary and most known psychoactive component of marijuana, other compounds with biologic activity are cannabinol, cannabidiol (CBD), cannabichromene, cannabigerol, tetrahydrocannabivarin, and delta-8-THC. CBD, in particular, is thought to have analgesic (pain relieving) and antiinflammatory benefits without the psychoactive effect that causes the “high” often associated with marijuana.  An animal study of the effect of CBD on cell death in breast cancer found that induced cell death and inhibited the survival of estrogen triggered breast cancer while not destroying nor affecting non-tumor breast cells.

Currently there are limited options to treat aggressive forms of cancer.  Many people experience nausea and an increased risk of infection amongst other side effects with chemotherapy.  These can be both physically and emotionally draining on the patient.  CBD may help the uptake of cytotoxic drugs into malignant cells. There is hope that cannabidiol (CBD) could be a non-toxic alternative to traditional chemotherapy which would achieve the same results without any of the painful side effects.

CBD blocks the activity of a gene called Id-1 which is thought to be responsible for metastasis of cancer cells, which is the spread of cancer cells away from the original tumor site. Past work has shown that CBD can block aggressive human brain cancers and some of the latest work has found CBD has a similar effect on breast cancer cells in the lab.  This research is still at a very early stage and will need to be followed up in human clinical trials to see if CBD is safe and whether the animal study results can be repeated.  Currently only the UK is running medical testing with CBD on human breast cancer patients. - www.cbdhempoilproductbenefits.com

CBD Oil and It's Role in Cancer Treatment

Since the mid-1970s medical scientists have known of the beneficial effects of cannabinoid compounds over cancerous cells. More recently there have been a growing number of papers published in scientific journals showing anti-tumor effects
in animals and on a cellular level.  It appears through these studies that the cannabinoid not only targets and kills cancer cells it does not affect or harm healthy, normal cells and may actually offer protection against cellular death.  As there has been no endorsement of these compounds as a cancer cure by the pharmaceutical companies and since there is no mainstream promotion not many people are aware of the benefits. CBD oil has none of the psychoactive properties of THC, the other component of the cannabis plant.  Some people have used THC oil and some have used a combination of CBD and THC oil in their treatments of various medical conditions. Although there have been stories of CBD oil having cured people’s cancer, since a cure means five years disease free, this cannot be substantiated as no one has been using it for that length of time.  The internet; however, abounds with stories from people claiming their cancer has been cured.  Some doctors don’t want to outright dismiss these stories they are just saying that more extensive studies need to be conducted.

One of the more interesting study findings recently has been researchers reporting that CBD acts as a more potent inhibitor of cancer cell growth than other cannabinoids, including THC, and noting that the compound is particularly good in halting the spread of breast cancer cells by triggering cell death.

Other potentially treatable cancers that have been shown to respond well to CBD oil extract are some forms of leukemia, lung, ovarian and brain cancers. -www.cbdhempoilproductbenefits.com
